Surprise as LSL estate agency boss decides to quit after just over a year

Adrian Gill, executive director in charge of estate agency at LSL Property Services which owns Your Move, Reeds Rains and Marsh &Parsons has resigned after just 16 months. However, he will remain in his role until next January.

While there is speculation as to what he will do next, his contract is said to include post-terminations which remain in place until October 2017.He was appointed to his current role at LSL after the retirement of the hugely respected David Newnes.

Gill, who took up his current role on January 1, 2015, is leaving to pursue another unspecified opportunity.Gill will serve his nine-month notice period, and the firm emphasised that he will be carrying on his existing responsibilities during this time, which will take him until next January.Gill joined LSL as an independent non-executive director in September 2012.Before that, he was on the board of Connells for ten years. It is rumoured he will now return to Connells.

In November 2014, it was announced that he would take on the title of Executive Director Estate Agency with responsibility for the performance of LSLs estate agency brands including Your Move, Reeds Rains, Marsh & Parsons and LSLi.

LSL said it has has commenced a succession planning process and a further announcement will be made in due course.Ian Crabb, group CEO for LSL, said: “I would like to thank Adrian for his significant contribution to LSL and, in particular, its estate agency division, and to wish him every success in the future.”LSL has recently had some similarly short-lived tenures.Jon Cooke, appointed Your Moves managing director in 2014, quit after less than 18 months. He had been widely expected to land the top job.

Cooke had in turn succeeded Helen Woodhouse, recruited from a retail background and with no prior experience of estate agency, who left after a similarly short tenure. Both Cooke and Newnes have been honoured with Outstanding Contribution to Estate Agency awards.Last night EYE received speculation, seemingly unlikely, that Cooke and Gill could be launching
something together.
