As the frontman of controversial British punk rock band the Sex Pistols, Johnny Rotten performed the top 10 hit
‘Pretty Vacant’.
And now it’s a case of life imitating art as his former home, in one of London’s smartest neighbourhoods, has hit
the market.
Rotten allegedly hosted many raucous parties at the house in Chelsea, which he bought in 1978 – the year the
Sex Pistols split up.
And the stream of visitors is thought to have included leading members of the punk scene such as the Sex Pistols
bassist Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen, DJ and musician Don Letts and band The Slits.
Rotten, whose real name is John Lydon, abandoned the house in 1981 and moved to New York.
